NYE 2020 Countdown

Joya no kane is the traditional bell-ringing ceremony held across Japan on New Year’s Eve. Celebrating the passing of the old year and the beginning of a new one, it sees temple bells rung 108 times, once for each of the worldly desires or anxieties central to Buddhism, starting in the old year and finishing right as the clock strikes midnight. It is also common to eat Ramen for good luck on New Year’s Eve. Tempura Oji will be playing over it’s sound system in the restaurant the 108 bell rings as Tempura Oji ushers  a new purified 2020. The bell-ringing starts at at 11:13pm on the 31st December 2019 New Year’s Eve and goes on with the last bell ring a little after midnight.
